Thunderball

Thunderball

‘Thunderball’ is the eighth novel in Ian Fleming’s James Bond series. The book begins with a meeting between Bond and his superior, M. There is currently some political unrest developing with international ramifications that requires an experienced agent to investigate - Bond’s expertise and excellent track record puts him at the top of the list.

Bond agrees and heads off for Nassau. After stopping briefly in New York where he meets up with Felix Leiter (who is working as part of Air Force security) the two men board a commercial flight for Nassau.

On the flight Felix shares his suspicion that something large is being planned - it is common knowledge that an enormous transaction of money has been taking place between British and American agents, and all of that money has recently disappeared - some people are nervous about the possibility that there may be trouble ahead.

Thunderball is the first book in what is called the 'Blofeld Trilogy', called that after the main villain of SPECTRE Ernst Stavro Blofeld. The other two works in the trilogy are ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and 'You Only Live Twice'.
