Moby Dick
Moby Dick
Considered to be one of the greatest American novels, Moby Dick was written by author Herman Melville. During its initial release, the book went largely unread and was out of print by the time of Melville’s death in 1891. However, over the course of the 20th century, Moby Dick developed widespread popularity and is now considered a classic.
The Shakespearean inspired adventure follows the captain of whaling ship Moby Dick, and his quest to find a giant sperm whale who has taken his leg. Moby Dick will not rest until revenge has been served against the creature who is as immense and dangerous as the sea itself. The story of Moby Dick is more than an adventure story or a folklore legend, but it is also philosophical commentary of society. A tale unlike any other, this novel is an epic inquiry into faith, character, and fate.
