Macbeth

Macbeth

Macbeth is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare, first performed in 1606. While the tragedy is one of Shakespeare’s shortest plays, it is also known to be one of his darkest and emotionally intense plays. Shakespeare guides readers to explore the consequences of dark political ambition, and the difference between Kingship and Tyranny. This play also boasts one of the strongest female characters in Shakespeare’s literature.

The story follows a brave Scottish General, Macbeth, and his ambitious wife, Lady Macbeth. After a successful battle, Macbeth is visited by three witches who deliver a prophecy that he will be the king of Scotland. With the cunning support of his wife Lady Macbeth, together they kill King Duncan, and Macbeth seizes the throne of Scotland. Following their ascent to power, The Macbeth’s are consumed by paranoia, guilt, and panic.
