Lord Jim
Lord Jim
Lord Jim tells the story of a young man on his first voyage as an officer aboard a ship. He is full of ambition and dreams of glory. But when he makes a mistake that causes the death of another sailor, he runs away in shame. The work follows Jim through many years as he tries to atone for what happened and find peace with himself again.
As time passes, however, Jim discovers that redemption may be possible if only he can find it within himself to take responsibility for what happened at sea—a journey that takes him back into the heart of darkness where all men are forced to confront their innermost fears.
Lord Jim was written by Joseph Conrad, one of the most important English-language writers from Poland during this time period. His writing style uses vivid descriptions to create scenes that are easy for readers to imagine themselves in while reading about them.
