Brave New World Revisited
Brave New World Revisited
Brave New World Revisited is a non-fiction book by Aldous Huxley, published in 1958. It is a "sequel" to his earlier novel Brave New World (1932). The book expresses his concerns that humans are heading towards over-industrialization and authoritarian governments which do not allow their citizens freedom of choice or thought.
The book discusses topics that were brought up in Brave New World, such as genetic engineering, psychological conditioning, and social control. Huxley's purpose in writing the sequel was to examine how rapidly the world was move towards his predictions of dystopia. He believed that by reading Brave New World, people would be more aware of certain aspects of their lives and therefore be able to think critically about them. Huxley also feels there is not enough education in high schools about these topics so most people are unaware of them or how they work.
